BactoFlor^® Liver is the liver-related microbiotic from Intercell Pharma's BactoFlor^® portfolio – a well-conceived triple complex that combines 13 complementary bacterial cultures with milk thistle extract and the vitaminoid choline.

The 13 bacterial cultures are natural representatives of the small and large intestine flora. They were selected with regard to the so-called gut-liver axis: via the portal vein, the intestine is in direct anatomical connection with the liver – a large proportion of the substances absorbed in the intestine first reach the liver. All cultures have natural, tested gastric acid stability and pass through the stomach without any gastric acid-resistant coating of the capsule.

The second component is milk thistle extract. Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) originally comes from the Mediterranean region, belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae) and has been used traditionally since antiquity. It is rich in secondary plant compounds from the group of flavonoids.

The third component is the vitaminoid choline. Vitaminoids are natural substances that perform tasks similar to vitamins but – unlike true vitamins – can to some extent also be produced by the body itself. Choline is a protein-like natural substance and occurs in particularly high concentration in the membranes of liver cells.

With 10 billion colony-forming units (CFU) per daily dose of two capsules, BactoFlor^® Liver offers a study-compliant concentration of bacterial cultures. As with all BactoFlor^® products, this is the guaranteed viable cell count until the end of the shelf life, made possible by the microencapsulation process and the high-barrier protective blister. This special packaging is impermeable to oxygen and water vapour – which is particularly important for the bifidobacteria it contains, which as anaerobes live in the absence of oxygen.

Storage advice

Please store in a cool place (for example in the refrigerator), not above 25 °C, dry and out of the reach of young children. Thanks to the microencapsulation process and the high-barrier protective blister, the declared viable cell count of 10 billion CFU per daily dose is maintained until the end of the shelf life.

BactoFlor^® Liver is manufactured in Germany. Intercell Pharma is certified to the international standards FSSC 22000 (food safety) and ISO 14001 (environmental management) by the testing institute SGS.

Additional quality assurance is provided through individual weighing: every single BactoFlor^® Liver capsule is checked separately for its weight and is subject to strict tolerances (± 5 %). This ensures that each capsule contains a constant and exact quantity of active substances.
